(Source: Blackwell Synergy) - An international team of researchers investigated the effectiveness of an exercise program regarding activities of daily living (ADLs), physical performance, nutritional status, behavioral disturbances and depression in patients with Alzheimer's disease.
The study involved 134 patients with mild to severe AD in a total of five nursing homes.
The scientists concluded that a simple exercise program, 1 hour twice a week, led to significantly slower decline in ADL scores in patients with AD living in a nursing home than routine medical care.
